NO PHOTOGRAPHY ALLOWED....... Yeah Right!!

So, in a bid to traverse the traffic jams that are available for our entertainment (but mainly indignation) every morning and evening, we normally end up far removed from our natural and logical path between work & home (or wherever you end up after work...).

Anyway, today was no exception as it found me driving past the big man's mansion. As I slowly crawled at the natural speed of rush-hour traffic I happened to notice a sign on the perimeter of the 300+ hectare compound that ostensibly purported to prohibit any form of photography; and I thought: "What a load of bull crap!!" In this techno-savvy age what would a few grainy pictures of some bushes surrounding the mansion achieve?!? What you need is to fire up your Google Earth and voila! all is there to be viewed by the naked eye; hell you can even get the exact geographical coordinates of the First Bathroom!!

I don't see how blanking out such sites on our maps helps while you can have the best view in the house, from the air, and in vivid living colour! Same goes for military installations such as Moi Air Base and Langata Barracks which are available in detail from Google Earth.

Ok.., so it's not the 1st day of the year.....

... but give me a break!!

Insomnia is characterized by an inability to sleep and/or to be incapable of remaining asleep for a reasonable period. Both organic and non-organic insomnia constitute a sleep disorder. It is often caused by fear (wee wacha!!), stress (labda...?), anxiety (sasa hii ni nini??!?), medications (I thought like most dawas make you drowsy....?? Thus the usual DO NOT OPERATE MACHINERY warnings), herbs (Heh Heh Heh. Kumbe wanaelewa), caffeine (college created an immunity in most of us..)or sometimes for no apparent reason (BINGO!! They've hit the nail on the head!). An overactive mind or physical pain may also be causes. Finding the underlying cause of insomnia is usually necessary to cure it.

Fine. I had planned (and informed no one...) to start my blog the first day of the year (and this is like the 9th..? 10th?) but the year starts slow if it ended in a bang; and mine literally exploded the last week of 2006. Anyway here I am on my first really productive day of the year. (Don't ask me about last week...., "I don't know", "can't remember", "wasn't there...," any or all of the preceding phrases will hopefully satisfy your curiosity).

So, a quick intro from me should do:

Am your average Nairobi-guy-on-the-street (if there exists such an entity). I work hard (depends on who's side you'll be looking at it from) during the day and stay up most of the night. You could say I suffer from insomnia, but thats debatable, coz i feel quite ok with 2-3 hrs of sleep on a good day/night. I spend my day infront of an LCD screen and end up spending my evenings infront of a bunch of various other screens at intermittent (isn't the new spell-check on Mozilla Firefox 2.0 the coolest thing? How in the world would I have known that intermittent has 'tt' and not 't'.... I mean look at this; intermintent.., looks ok to me... ) periods. Part of that time will be spent jotting a line or two on my web-diary (was really careful not to write dairy).

I know that isn't much of an intro, but the blog isn't about me; its more about..... eh, uhm..... eh...., whatever. Am really not sure, but we'll get a feel as we go along, sawaz?
